We created a breakthrough annual report that captured the spirit and ambition of United Development Company (UDC).

Qatar’s United Development Company (UDC), a vertically integrated multi-national conglomerate, asked Brandimage to design their 2008 annual report. The challenge was to create a cohesive narrative that could unite an extremely diverse portfolio of companies, while portraying UDC as a formidable global player. We grounded design in a brand idea that reflects the entrepreneurial spirit of the brand. The report needed to have all information in both English and Arabic.
Brandimage created an annual report unlike any other— an experience in and of itself. The report established the brand idea “Inspiration in everything” which spoke to UDC’s organic growth strategy. The design housed multiple printed pieces within a metallic folder that could be opened from either English or Arabic perspectives (left to right and right to left, respectively). A core book provided the company and portfolio overview (two core books were created, in both English and Arabic), as well as a single financial report that incorporated both languages into one bound form. The journey through the report was designed to draw the reader in. After introducing the UDC parent brand, teaser-like headlines on bare white spreads with intriguing die-cuts provide only a peek of what is to come. When the page is flipped, a full subsidiary story is revealed. The result is a high-end compelling piece of design that elevates the UDC brand to the stature of a true global player.
